although its ancient egypt, i saw it as a reference to the bible with adam and eve! the fruit representing knowledge and they (the group) representing eve.

In ancient Egypt fruit was given as an offering i think but i definitely know it wasn’t a reference to the bible since the bible itself contradicts Egypt's gods so i personally think it’s in bad taste to put those two works ‘together’ but idk i might be yapping (⊙…⊙ )
no youre right– i just personally made that connection between the two, but i also think the author wouldnt include such two contradicting religions. i tried researching it a little, but all that came up was pomegranates being a literary device for the gain of knowledge, not any other fruit.
that being said, i dont think the author meant much by it.
