I didn't mean dooshik i meant jooha's storyline his past what was happening when he met dooshik when he was kidnapped by pilwon basically half of the story was jooha getting SA'd by other men that's what i meant

the part that really made me not like this series was when dooshik had one of the evil brothers gang raped by his goons
like yeah i understand the brother had a big hand in jooha being raped but for some reason that didn’t sit right with me. or maybe i’m still traumatized by no reason and that hit too close lmao

I really dropped it i know it was a good manhwa a lot of people really liked it but i just cant handle the amount of SA in the story also yes the twins i didnt reached that part cuz i was spoiled that dooshik did that and was scared to see it so i stopped reading im just happy atleast pilwon died and jooha got his happy ending with dooshik. I really didnt like that he did that to one of the twins just to punished the other knowing the insane relationship the twins has i think i reached my limit on questionable things fictional characters does

I did consider staying for the art but i just cant stomach the SA anymore also the lack of trauma response specially with jooha he endured years of SA YEARSSS!!! but no healing arc whatsoever before banging the shit out of dooshik first like really???? u went thru all of that horrible years of abuse but ur fine to fuck a man u just met bc he fine asf and had a big ass dick if that was me i would throw a fit everytime anyone touches me idk i hate how they represent that trauma

Well, that's true. I think the most horrible part of Pearl Boy is all that suffering and for what?

Actually, Dooshik was never this "Green of the greenest" flag people always called him. Since chapter 1 we know he was a prostitute, he was in debt, he worked with gangster and then he tried to scape from all those things, that's when he met Jooha in the restaurant. Then we see how he was in prison back in his teenage days, he became a gangster himself, killed people and all of that because of Jooha and the fact they needed money and were poor.

My point is that what he did to the twins was not out of character like some people say, throughout all the story we see how he give everything and more to protect Jooha, so what he did to those twinks was WELL deserved. I'm sorry but what did people expect from a gangster who saw his lover being raped for multiple men if is not vengeance and murder?

I've said this a couple of times and I think I'm right. Pearl Boy is my favorite manhwa, and when you have a favorite thing you will always defend it tooth and nail from all those who criticize it. However I don't do that because I am aware that indeed Jooha went through a lot of sh*t and in the end it was just to give drama and angst to the story because there was no healing arc from those traumas (apart from Dooshik's support, which yes, was always there) but I feel that's not enough. Although I have acquaintances who have suffered from SA and have told me that everyone deals with it differently, some even become hypersexual and don't care. But I don't know, I haven't been through similar situations, so I can't speak from something I've never experienced. Yes, Jooha attempted suicide, took pills, went to psychiatrist, doctor, wanted to die again, didn't touch Dooshik and even wanted to kill himself again (but maybe if Inkiing would have handled it differently it would be better).

I also feel that Pearl Boy has a LOT of plot holes and unfinished things that while not essential to understand and comprehend the story, would be a plus to know more about certain details.

Anyway, what keeps me with this manhwa has always been Dooshik and Jooha's relationship, I feel it's the only well developed factor in the whole manhwa.

So yeah, when they criticize the SA theme in this story I'm really not going to defend it, it's true.

u are the first person who actually got what we were saying about pearl boy we didnt drop it bc we hate dooshik or thinks he's the worst but bc of the SA and the lack of healing from that kind of trauma. Yes we do have some concerns about some of the things he did for revenge ngl lie some of them deserved it and more its just u get it some scene are just too much even for me tbh as a dark romance reader.

But i do love jooha and dooshik's dynamic, dooshik being down bad for jooha i get it the way he did everything to protect him i dont have issues with that.

Yes! Totally, something I like a lot is how both were in the worst moments together and still stayed and overcame it, especially with a villain as son of a bitch as Pilwon (who I like a lot as a villain precisely because he doesn't have this cliché of tragic past, but he is a psychopath, which I appreciate).

I envy you a little if I'm honest, almost at the end of the third season there is a scene of Pilwon abusing Jooha (worse than the first and second) and I almost threw up, I'm not lying. To this day I also don't know why the fuck Inkiing made that so explicit if in the season finale it's not like Jooha kills Pilwon for everything he did to him (which I would have liked because of ALL the times he abused him explicitly in the manhwa). To be honest with you Pilwon's ending disappointed me, it was very weak.

And another thing too, I don't know how far into the manhwa you got, but I personally feel that Pilwon's character wasn't going so dark from the beginning (just like the plot of the manhwa itself), but Inkiing added strong stuff to make it more tragic.

Pilwon as a villain is actually top tier they didnt make me pity him bc of some tragic past that made him what he is but is he just a plain psychopath. The amount of times i threw my phone bc of that son of a bitch.

I stopped around chapter 67 i think cuz i kinda predicted that something big is gonna happen when dooshik and jooha was living happily together and i saw what pilwon was actually doing to the twins and how desperate they are for power and hating that they work for the devil so i stopped reading bc i just know its gonna be far far more disturbing that what was already seen and i was right it got to me and i just cant anymore :(

    baphienaxxx May 11, 2025 11:34 pm

Sis i feel you! Pilwon was so well written that even me, a lover of villains like Mahito and Sukuna (from JJK) was impressed, disgusted and terrified. Every time he popped up on my screen i blocked my phone, a total jumpscare fr!

And yes, around the chapters 70 everything turns into HELL, when i tell you HELL i MEAN IT
