i feel like there's half of the plot missing.. when did the mc and ml pretend to hate each other? how did they magically bond and become this close? what even is the proper deal with the duke? ALSO (this may be just a consequence of shitty translation) if the emperor is a woman, why was it a bigish deal that a daugther is coming into the position of count(ess)? seemed like besides the filial stiff, there was also some misogyny underlaced, but couldve been the fault of the translation as well...

i didnt expect much but this is a mess lol... maybe itll make it past the first season

It was seen as disrespectful and a big Drama to forcefully succeed her father bc 1) it was making their family matter public buissness which brings shame to the family, not only that but 2) it was about the disoute between family members of different age. Her father rightfully gained his title and she disrespected her elder by going against him. Disrespecting elders, especially your parents, is a big deal in korean society where the social hierarchy is based on age. And 3) she never was trained as a successor for whatever reason so she wasn't supposed to be able to handle the responsibilities that come with the title. This definitely seems like a plothole bc the family needs a successor, but maybe it also stems from her father's neglect of the household? Who yake care of their families affair in her fathers place? And there's also the possibility for a more fitting distant relative to succeed the title. The plot here is definitly flat in order to not overcomplicate things I believe.
The story has many plot holes in my opinion which aren't related to the translation. The translation is doing a good enough job.

True that. Since empress approved the mining business between Duke n Mc - I was assuming that on behalf of the Duke(ml's dad)- the ml was doing business with mc.
Didn't understand from where did the 'hate each other' drama began! Cuz there was no such dialogue/action between them.
No reason why ppl would even start rumours about them- as they both are publicly now business partners!

Also, I believe that the Empress is the ruling regent and her king is just her husband/consort!

Yeah true! The "king" would actually be called queen regnant (meaning she's the ones ruling) and her husband would be called king consort (meaning he married into the royal family). The same would be true if it's empress/emperor. Fan translations are always tacky when it comes to titles bc they don't know which role the characters actually play so they just guess the titles along the way.
