To be fair, they forced her mother to write him that everything is great. She was the love of his life. He had no reason to doubt that.
That’s true, but what bugs me is more after her death they never really questioned anything. Or bothered to send trusted people to check in one her.
They didn’t know mother died tho He sent letters to her and I’m guessing they somehow tempered with them, so he doesn’t catch on (could fake her handwriting or maybe use the same methods on young Beaty as they did on her mother to force her to write them). He was also on the battlefield when all of that was happening. I’m usually not one to let go of negligence in those stories, but with this one I really believe it wasn’t his fault.
