Because all of them are strong fighters, individually. The problem with them is, they are unruly. So no squad leader want them, hence why they are piled into one group. They were even labelled the weakest group. Not because they're weak, but because they're not progressing as a group. (Also because Encrid their leader is weak)
Ever since Encrid got obsessed with improving himself, his leadership gives them purpose and motivation. They're strong and without strong enemies or sparring partners that are strong (or entertaining) they dont feel challenged, or engaged. They're bored cause Encrid is not there to lead them / engage them.
Its like a favourite toy is taken away, that's why they were having temper tantrums lol they're just a bunch of children, they need their daddy. Hahaha
