I think that would've helped too. But I wonder if he didn't do it for money reasons (cause he has to pay for every quest he makes)
So far, he has not hesitated to spend money like water whenever the situation called it. So i think that in this life and death scenario, he wouldn’t have considered money an issue.
Mc should have made a quest for everyone with ability to come up and fight and those who dont would have punishment of either being kicked out or not having all the amenities available to them anymore. Then those hundred something bastards hiding would have to come or face consequences
