the king described lars as selfish, but the prince is the selfish one here, wanting to have everything nice all to himself but doesn’t do anything to improve himself. like he wants a capable partner but is he capable?

    The reason the King said the Lars family is selfish is because they want to focus on things they are interested with and not to fight in power struggles like any noble. And probably the King who grew up in an environment of power struggles doesn't like the way of Lar fam do. They assumed Lars family is selfish because they are too focused on what they want rather than the interest of the imperial fam
