this is EXACTLY how I feel, you explained it so perfectly. You can admit that it is a heartbreaking impactful story while also acknowledging its flaws and exploitive content.

At one chapter yata himself said “we shouldn’t do it” after momo opened up about his trauma and momo still wanted to go at it, which is realistic since sex is how he copes with things and “makes up” for things, so its not his fault, but it’s yata’s fault because he has the responsibility since he knows this and he should stop momo from doing that but he never does because he’s too horny… like in that chapter momo opened up about his trauma to yata and it made me emotional but it was ruined when in the next scene it was implied they immediately went at it again. It’s disgusting to mix porn and sexual trauma like this like that panel was supposed to be funny in the author’s mind but it doesn’t work when your main character just opened up about being violently raped as a child everyday.

I really love how Harada portrays child sexual abuse without holding back the brutal reality of it but at the same time there are certain moments where yata and momo have sex when they shouldn’t like especially when something has been hinted at momo’s past like it just feels so fucking weird to read when in the back of your mind you’re thinking about momo being raped as a child at the same time while they go at it. I to some extent understand people being disgusted by this because its so unfiltered. It’s a tragic well written story but at the same time it’s still mixed with fetishes in my opinion so that’s where that strange feeling comes from when you read it.
