what happens at the end? and how worse does it get?

for one, there’s no revenge. the abuse gets worse to the point mc (haewon) vision is impaired, throat injured, and gets insanely frail. he’s even tried to commit suicide. fast forward from the constant abuse & rape, the ml (haeyoung) has his version of “redemption” where he no longer abuses mc but he’s still very toxic, controlling, and jealous, however he does end up admitting that he loves mc and they are in this toxic relationship. ml starts cutting himself, injuring himself, and even poured boiling water on himself because he didn’t want to be without mc. they’re completely infatuated with each other with no intentions of leaving one another, and even though the ml still has the desire to harm mc because he wants no one else to have him, he doesn’t act on it. it’s their twisted version of love. ml cares and loves the mc in his own twisted, psychotic way, and the mc loves the ml too much that he would always forgive and be there for him. this was truly some of the darkest shit i’ve ever read, and there were A LOT of details i didn’t even mention

yes, but even though, i still consider it a tragic ending. the brother and the friend who also raped haewon received no punishment and felt no remorse, and was even forgiven by haewon (which is tragic, imo). also, the mc and ml are together but their relationship is still by no means healthy or even normal. haeyoung doesn’t allow haewon to really have any friends bc of his jealous issues, he has to text haeyoung all day everyday with updates, and if he doesn’t, haeyoung freaks out by trashing the place, harming himself, etc. immediately going to the extreme. haewonstill hasn’t recovered from all of the abuse in the past, he just literally can’t live without haeyoung, and haeyoung can’t live without him. so they’re forever stuck in this toxic cycle, hoping for the other not to go over the edge.

Thanks for the reply. So the ending is a mix of schizophrenia and Stockholm syndrome, meaning it's tragic for the readers.
