The age gap is weird

i saw ur comments on Tears on a Withered Flower and i dont see you complaining abt that age gap???? which is way bigger than this one (10 years).

not all age gaps are problematic (i’m not sure how old the couple in tears on a withered flower is) but someone in their 20s dating a teenager shouldn’t be a thing, there’s too much of a maturity gap. but this is fiction and set in a historical setting so idk

18 isn't a teenager it's considered a young adult plus 24 isn't even that old either within the young adulthood range, the couple in tears on a withered flower is 33 and 24.

being 18 is someone experiencing adulthood while just finished being a teenager, while being 24 is firmly an adult. let’s be real, 20smth year olds getting with someone freshly considered an adult is weird. the problem should be more about how young someone is when the older person is pursuing them vs. how large their age gap actually is. sure at 18 you can be a consenting adult but it’s way easier to take advantage of someone who just finished being a teenager vs. someone who has lived as a proper adult aka 24. i assume the guy is presented as an adult who acts like an adult and the only weird part abt the couple is the stigma around an older woman dating a younger guy cause it’s usually the other way around.

i can only see why the mayne being 18 and vyle being 24 would be appropriate is because this is a historical fantasy setting where more maturity is expected at younger ages. i don’t see why bringing in the age gap from tears on the withered flower was necessary, as again, age gaps in established adults are not weird, but age gaps when the younger person is 16-19 is.

Well yes it's a little weird as u said in modern settings but at least they're both of age and it is a historical setting as maturity works differently plus I don't think she was taken advantage of since she agreed to leave the prince herself. Ive brought up the tears on a withered flower couple bc this person only complained of this age gap while a bigger age gap is ignored, ofc they're both adults but it's a modern setting and as u said maturity is different, 24 is on a very different maturity level than 33 and she is divorced at that so she is even more mature than a young adult who is newly 24. If u ask me they're both weird but one has an excuse of being in a historical setting.

i slightly disagree with 24 being too young for a 33 year old, around 25 is when the brain has fully developed, but what would a 24 year old and 33 year old even have in common? plus you mentioned she was divorced, that’s crazy. most 24 year olds have probably even been in the dating stage so that’s another layer of compatibility. i’m glad we both agree that both relationships are weird tho.

I'm agreeing w u tho, I don't like the 24 and 33 age gap lmao, I mentioned her being divorced bc that would mean she has more experience than a 24 yr old young adult, so I think it's a little weirder than this age gap, and dating is very different than marriage so that's another thing.
