this is what actors do though. it’s called improv so im pretty sure they didn’t do it to mess with him or something.

    I wouldn't be so sure.
There is a chance that they forgot the lines or smthn and did improv, but given the vibes beforehand, they were prolly trying to get him to make a mistake. If I'm right, then honestly it's a bit distasteful

I still feel that's it's a dick move. There's a difference between letting an actor know that there may be improv so that they can be somewhat prepared for what may come (and then they can still be crap at improv) vs this.

This feels like a nasty prank (with a tinge of jealousy). They appear to be in front of an audience and they've thrown Yoohan in blind. As someone below said -- does he even know what improv is??

As an example - it's like being told to study pages 1-3 and then having a pop quiz only on things on page 4. It's either a - you didn't

As an example - during uni I was given a voice recording of a student to analyze (linguistics!). I then met that student later and was thrown by how they sounded completely different. I got marked poorly and when I went to complain / gave proof that they uploaded the wrong recording, the teacher went: Oh, well sometimes things like this happen and you just have to roll with it.
[Actually no. Do your damn job. Give me a better grade. Hell, an apology would have been nice versus them saying I was the one at fault].

It IS a dick move and no one should do that in real life, there are other ways people learn improv and get better at acting. But those ways are longer and tedious to draw out. I do think here that it isn’t in bad faith but they want to force yohan into improv because if they told him about it he might act unnaturally or stress about it. But that kinda stuff only works in fiction lol
