Me too… like it was such a good build-up about who was actually involved in the kidnapping, Xie Jue or Zhi Banyi… then it was all just swept under the rug, like the author wanted us to just forget like ZBY did. The first seasons were all about the two MCs and just about everyone else’s childhood trauma that connects back to the kidnapping… I always didn’t understand, XJ was such a lousy person and the ML obviously didn’t like him but still has to cater to him… turns out… then all of a sudden, it wasn’t actually about the kidnapping and everything was just Father Lin’s fault??? I don’t know, maybe I’m just a shallow person? I don’t understand where the author really wanted to go with this story… It’s fine to say that Father Lin has problems with his brain but that seems like another issue altogether. So why was the kidnapping plot resolution so lackluster? I just don’t know what to think… is it just me? Is this also what you meant when you say the ending was not satisfying? So much foreshadowing in the earlier seasons… then just nothing… like we’re supposed to also think it wasn’t such a big deal after all and there were bigger things when it really seemed like it was the center of everyone’s life stories, like it was the one thing that disrupted everything. Then nothing. This is confusing, I can’t think through the disappointment and frustration.

It's likely that they were being rushed to finish the story by publishers, so they couldn't delve deeper into the other aspects and flesh out the ending. They did say in the end of the last page that they were unable to do all the things they wanted with the story, which happens when they're working on a deadline and being forced to finish at a certain chapter It's always sad when they force an author to cut a good story short!
I don't know why,...but I am not satisfied with the ending ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
