What’s the point in raising prices if none of your customers can afford it? Then no one will use your product. The point of lowering prices is so that more people will use it and since it’s a repeat-use product then youll get more repeat customers and that gives you not only profit but stability and security. Immediate greed is like the story of Icarus and long term greed is like Sisyphus. Neither are good. You need both. Market samples and once people know of your product, you can start rolling it out en-mass and once people use it regularly and spread it through word of mouth, you have your short term profit and your long term profit set in stone. I’m not even in sales or marketing and yet I can see exactly what those execs can’t. Also this is set in Korea? Korea is like the number 1 place that does this. All beauty therapy machines in Korea are expensive pieces of equipment and in the western world, we charge an arm, leg and kidney for one single use of it but in Korea and China, it’s dirt cheap but in return, everyone in those countries use it regularly and even tourists go over there purely to use it. They not only have local customers that regularly use their expensive machines (getting back their investment on the machine within a matter of months), they also gain tourism points which in turn boosts the overall economy putting money back into the pockets of the public and therefore putting money back into the government through taxes. Literally everyone is happy with that since it makes EVERYONE richer. The customers pay less so more stays in their pockets, the employees gain job security, the owner and execs get a nice cushy salary plus bonus, the company gets a nice fat profit, and the government gets a nice chunk in the form of taxes which goes right back into the general public’s interests (public safety and healthcare and education). It’s almost like execs don’t know the first thing about economics.

To boost the medical insurance market.

Make prices insanely high to normal consumers, make prices affordable to insurance company - insurance company profits as only those with insurance can afford it.

But this is Korea ╥﹏╥ also I live in the UK where it’s not common to have medical insurance since the NHS just pays for it. America just seems like a weird and greedy place where the rich get richer and literally everyone else is struggling.

Does it?? Then no wonder the execs are so greedy and everything is so stupidly corrupt! America and Russia have to be the top two most greedy when it comes to the higher ups.

I mean, the NHS doesn't cover everything like spectacles and eye check ups(above 18), dental , and now no longer cover minor ailments like cold sores, sore throat, migraines, conjunctivitis. They are also kinda overworked and seeing a gp took me like over a week. Being 5 min late and they'd cancel, but being on time, they make you wait for like 45 minutes. And most of the time, they don't prescribe any medication, so I'd have to get them OTC anyways. It cost me 1035 pounds a year to use the NHS too! They get a net profit from foreign students.

In my country, the national healthcare wait time is 20-45 minutes (walk in , no appointments) and costs 0.25 pounds per trip regardless of disease treatments. Private healthcare costs more obviously and the wait time is usually 10-30minutes.

Oh, for quality wise, it's hard to compare. Cuz the NHS do have more stringent sop, and medical equipment, but over here, due to the lower cost, some doctors do get wayy more experience ( as we have a pretty good medical tourism going on)but I really not sure on quality comparisons. Probs tge top medical surgeons in the UK are probs better. But I guess its just a lot quicker and cheaper for common sickness where I come from. Though coverage is lower here

Yes they do. There ARE opticians that cover glasses but it’s really backed up. Same with dentists. The NHS is a joke rn but what I mean is that any and all drugs and medical devices are free to use. Also I think you’re vastly mistaken. I get cold and flu vaccines and saw a neurologist for my migraines and got migraine medication from my gp under NHS in the UK. I don’t pay for anything either. It comes out of my taxes and national insurance contributions.

I'm basing the glasses one on my personal experience with a friend. Her eye checkup was supposed to free for under 18, but since it took over 2 months to get an appointment, she was 18 during the appointment and had to pay in full. (A looot more compared to where we were from). I went as her listed guardian.

I based the OTC no longer prescribed due to a few articles over the net I.e https://www.ukmeds.co.uk/blog/35-medical-conditions-that-gps-will-no-longer-issue-a-prescription-for

I didn't mention vaccines tho. And getting a flu and cough prescription is very difficult. The most I've gotten were some free candy lozenges. Despite having a severe sore throat for 3 weeks.

Well ofc you aren’t going to get OTC medication prescribed. That’s like going to your GP asking for condoms. People used to do that and that’s why there’s an article about it. It’s not that they stopped prescribing them, it’s that they made a post about it. Colds are not something medication can fix anyway. Medication only eases symptoms not the condition. It’s an anti-inflammatory medication, an antipyretic medication and some type of syrup to coat the throat and act as a barrier to prevent further damage. You can get the first two prescribed if you asked for them but you could also take ibuprofen and it’ll do the same thing. All cold medication is just ibuprofen and some additives to make it more effective.

Before you start judging the decisions of those in the medical profession about which medications are OTC, maybe learn what’s in those OTC medications. They are OTC for client ease not because it lines their pockets. In fact, pharmacies get less money for selling them than the doctors do because the doctor needs to take a cut of the money as well. It would be more as a prescribed drug than as an OTC one. As for glasses, all glasses for minors are free unless you go to a private practice. After 18, most free things stop being free since it’s a privilege for children who cannot and shouldn’t work. At 18, you are expected to work or be in full time education or apprenticeship. You’d be receiving an income from all 3 outcomes. That’s why it costs you money. You can still go for a NHS based free opticians clinic but the wait time is long since it IS NHS based and they are understaffed like you said.

I was also not born in the uk but I did my best to learn about the way the uk works because that’s my duty as a citizen of the country I reside in. Yes, it’s not the most convenient for minor issues but when I was rushed into major surgery and almost died on the operating table, I recovered and went home DEBT FREE. They saved my life and it didnt put a financial strain on me at all so I could fully just recover. I even got paid time off for a few weeks. Don’t judge something you don’t fully understand. All British citizens do want the GP system to be better but all UK GP practitioners are private owned NHS businesses. That’s why they do what they do. So that they can bill more hours to the NHS and government and can get away with doing less work.
