Why do we want a character that don't want to switch on their own desire to switch? and again, there are thousands of pretty bottoms out there. just please leave us to enjoy pretty beta top in peace.

The author suggesting the idea only to shut it down in the end is an obvious way to inform the audience, the author is disapproved of him being on the receiver. I would be more understanding, if he wants to receive of his own accord.
Lack of approval from the writer and lack of excitement from the character is enough to showcase there’s no potential for him to be a bottom. I don’t know how many I have to explain this to people who flood the comment section with only this type of comment saying he should receive. Can we please stop talking about this already? You’re welcome to express your dissatisfaction and opinion and but please keep it to a minimum and mind the space you’re in. Seeing comments like this upset us, because it could be seen as an invalidation towards underappreciated alpha bottoms or manly bottoms.
