I remember, taking this to the real world, that there was once a woman on TV, wife of a rich man, that used to go to Paris, USA, or wherever she wanted daily if she wanted to buy a new bad or new branded clothes.
Then one person told her that the bag she purchased and the plane oil she used was enough to make a bunch of families live for a year. Her answer was silence and she never lost her attitude.
What I mean is that... I have never lived in their world either, if you are raised with money and benefits, maybe it is too difficult to see the other side. You should lack of something that makes u live hard to notice, maybe?

It’s always contrasting how ppl in power who think they are “educated” enough to comment on something they have never experienced or perhaps empathized with. Their speeches are always arrogant, ignorant, and plain stupid.
