I’ve read the novel during quarantine. Some stuff are blurry at the moment and I haven’t read manhwa yet so I don’t remember the characters name. If the couple you’re referring too is the same one I’m thinking….

Hubbard is the dude that is in the base while Tang lan is considered dead in the story.
Hubbard feels extremely guilty from what happened at the incident. He’s introduced when he’s making a wax person of his dead lover.
Hubbard and Tang lan were they guys that will go out the base to look for supplies. At that point they were already dating. One day they were doing their usual stuff outside the base. As the day went on, Tang lan told him he wanted to go back and that they should stop for the day. Hubbard wanting to keep going told him no and if remember correctly they even had a huge fight about it. Tang lan decided to keep looking for more supplies with Hubbard when all of a sudden a monster attacked them and killed Tang lan.
Hubbard was devastated and blamed himself ever since.
Positive side Tang lan is actually alive but fused himself with the monster. He now has black wings and joins a group of half human half monster. The little mushroom is the one who accidentally finds him and theirs a whole arc about it. About how to prevent something really bad to happen (that part is super blurry :/).
We get a recount of the incident and how Tang lan wakes up and sees his state he knew he couldn’t go back to the base.
He does get reunited with Hubbard in the climax of the story. Don’t remember the details but I do remember feeling very sentimental and happy for them.
SOME SPOILER OF THE ENDING….
Again, don’t remember the details. I do know they had to turn a machine off or the world was gonna explote or something. Little mushroom had an idea (a super sad one by the way) but Tang lan hearing Hubbard could be in danger goes to the site to help. As the story escalates Hubbard is in the verge of dying, falling from somewhere :/
When Tang lan saves him. Both are reunited Hubbard looks at him as he gets super emotional. At this point in the story is when is readers see the most vulnerable side of Hubbard and see how glad he is of Tang Lan being alive. Just remember it being a very tear jerker moment. From what I remember it was a happy ending for both of them. So don’t worry
Not sure of some details but that was from what I remember from 2020 T_T I’m so glad this is being adapted and I’m totally gonna read it, I just need to let it marinate a little. Sorry for my grammar, english is not my first language. Hopefully is understandable.

Before bidding them farewell, he instructed them to remember to look for Hubbard and Tang Lan. They had disappeared after the monster siege at the institute. Now the only thing that could be confirmed was that Tang Lan was still alive despite being seriously injured. Their corpses hadn’t been found within 10 miles.
“I seriously suspect that they healed up, got lost and then lay eggs.” The captain made a final inference and left on the transport plane.

who else have read the novel here??? idk if this is a spoiler but am i the only one who's so fixated with tang lan and hubbard??? esp the ending. WHERE ARE THEY??? WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM??? i need someone to talk to about this T^T
