I think he only "liked" the old guy because he was the one who chose him as a sacrifice and he really clung to the idea that he would get to die and that would end all his suffering + give his family all they need and he's not really into him, at the very least not romantically/sexually - whereas he fell in love with Mugo, at least that's how I interpreted it while reading and that's the truth I will be buried with

I can understand this, but I think it was the last chapter before he ran away he spoke to the old guy and said “I like you Sir Mugo” I can agree with you that his like may not have been romantic but more so admiration for the person who promised to end his suffering. But from the beginning he favored sir Mugo which is more than he did for the Mugo he shares a bed with! So what I was basically addressing is that I hope he has a desire to live and live for himself and Mugo who loves him!
Ps. Don’t die hehehe(づ￣ ³￣)づ I think we all have different interpretations of how their relationships happen or progress and that’s ok(⌒▽⌒)
I hope he realizes which Mugo saved him and stops pinning for that evil glasses one! （￣へ￣）
