Real cus they could have easily made the ml like 14/13 and the mc 16/17 that way it wouldn’t be way super crazy age gap but enough for their first meeting the mc to still see the ml as a child and have it be more of a “the mc didn’t get to be a child so that’s why he feels like an adult” type vibe and I think it would have been good

Fr like it’s a good story ofc we are gonna read it and it’s not like the the mc actually does anything with ml when he’s a child so that’s really good but when you take a deeper thought into the author themselves and the process of making this story there was really no need for there to be such a large age gap in my opinion it would have been the same if the gap was shorter.
It’s just one of those ‘hmm’ moments for the author where we wonder but like at the end of the day it’s a super intresting story, good art and no foul play between the love interest idk why people just automatically think “don’t read it” like there can be differences in views with readers and stories without the readers hating the author or story :/
i totally get how this is not grooming but at the same time I DO get how it's uncomfortable, honestly authors have the choice not to make it a huge age gap with the same plot and the same pace why didn't they just do it then
