I think chiaki is looking for that bone. I think the two of them need to talk to each other in an open and honest way. I get the feeling that chiaki doesn’t need asami but wants him. Which I think is sweet in its own way. But asami wants to be needed, which is valid. But he needs to know he’s inherently useful by just existing, and he doesn’t need to go to such lengths for everyone in order to not be abandoned. His mom was total trash; abandoning her kids like that. So many people have kids when they really shouldn’t.
Why does chiaki kinda suck rn he better have a good reason for avoiding him, but he's not telling him anything, or maybe I just relate to asumi's feelings of needing validation tm that his passivity is upsetting me. But rn I think he can do better icl
