They divorced because of his debt stuff (I’m guessing something with the law could make it better if he was single with the debt or get government help that way) and he promised her that they would get married again once they got back on their feet (which they obviously haven’t). And he’s gotten so bitter at this point with disappointments from life that his cute and pure love for her (I really loved their young love T-T) when they were young seems to have just died off and he’s all rage now. He doesn’t even like the chick he’s dating now - just cheated cuz he could and it was something to not be bored (but now he’s bored again). Sucks cuz I imagine some of the cute high school romance manga I’ve read having their ‘after the happily ever after’ chapter ending up like this (not necessarily with the psycho obsessive kid in play).
