From what I remember reading from spoilers if the novel, Elencia's body was possessed by a demon or some kind of evil being.

The spoilers I remember were that the possessor was a toxic fan of the novel who basically wrote fanfiction of the story because she hates Philomel so much

I think is going in the novels direction then, there is a part on the chapter that the writer of the book, said "it's a little different from the original" something like that.
