If it makes you feel any better I interpreted it as him erasing his angel self from their memory , he’s still with them as a friend.
He says he erased only his angel self, because he wants to stay with them as friends only. So both Ren and Souma don't remember talking to an actual angel – even if they both did – but they still do remember Haruna. From the way Haruna says it too, it's bc he wants to live as a normal guy and their normal friend
