The manhwa does adapt pretty accurate to the novel but well, nothing really beats the novels writing. So I'd say do both, take it side by side cause it might be easier to understand the story visually but to truly take in the full story, you need the novel.

It's up to preference, the manhwa is a great adaptation but the novel is has more depth. I think in the novel dokja is a bit more cynical and depressed, since we are inside his head
