Original story had Philomel still live a good life in the end mainly because it wasn't really her fault that she was switched at birth and people just hated on her as a child. I can't really blame her for being a 'villainess' because of that.
Fanfic version had Philomel suffer terribly in the end culminating in her even dying. For some reason, this fanfic writer just really, truly hated her. Others wanted the same ending for the simple fact that it's a common trope in this genre. But fanfic writer just really hated Philomel's character. Maybe she just believed she didn't deserve a good ending period.
I’m curious about the novel though. The author said something about “don’t care if it has a different ending”, what was the ending the author wrote before it was published?
