In the novel, there's a lead up where we assume Abel is about to get sex'd up in an consensual arousing way but the prince was very impatient and decided to hurt Abel. The author writes that eventually Abel enjoys this but its made clear he's in a lot of pain.

I just hate the fact that the prince was shown as caring but Abel got taken like a dog in the end. Like cmon bro.
