although hua qingyun has displayed his skill and knowledge to other people before, it was never in this grand scale. also he was previously known for his talisman, not alchemy. i am really curious what will happen after this, he probably will be known from now on as an alchemy genius. i think this event should be a turn over for his reputation and overall story since he won't be as inconspicuous as before. i hope author can handle this well and not suddenly erase this event from everyone's mind.
also, at a glance it seem he has shown his real strength, but actually he only just learned alchemy, it's a new skill that he hasn't explored and probably hasn't thought to hide it, how to hide it, or how much to hide. so i think it's not that ooc, and after all this adventure with junior sister he probably changed a bit to not hide so much.
Moreover, i think he accidentally hiding deeper. alchemy and talisman are usually not seen as frontline combatant, meanwhile hua qingyun's true value should be as a DPS (or at least what he tried to hide so much). so imagine in the future war, he can be a great worker in the frontline, working to death, but instead everyone will wish him to stay from the strife and provide support from backline since his alchemy skill is that valuable. so instead of working, he can stay behind and even play pill gacha, with free ingredients, and get rewarded from it too. truly genius move.
so i just realized able to stop working on time is not the same as hiding from the world. that's probably why hua qingyun isn't that anxious of being found out a bit as long as it doesn't interfere with his lifestyle.
