(Sorry this is long I like typing long comments) So the second ML (the friend) isn’t the worst guy obviously, but like honestly he’s not all that great either. I see everyone hyping him up and he’s lowk just lusting over the main character. We don’t see the thought process from the actual Main Lead often, but we know that so far he does like the main character in his own way, to the point that he even does things he normally would never do for anyone else. And yeah, their relationship is mostly just sexual, but there are developing feelings outside of it even if the ML doesn’t want to show it. But for the friend? He only cared about the main character after his glow up (the actual main lead thought he was cute to begin with and enjoys his presence. Even if he phrases it as “not boring”) and every single thought the friend has about the main character is his appearance. Like every. single. one. And the way he tries to insert himself sometimes is annoying (audibly groaned out as he tried to play the matching clothes off as boyfriends. Like the main character even said it was a coincidence but he then jumped in AFTER and created that lie. Like bro don’t even know if the main character liked him or not, which he doesn’t see him that way so far. This one’s a little more personal to my taste but miscommunication tropes sometimes are the worst) I honestly can’t feel bad for the friend because the main character has no reason to like him. He’s overly insertive and only thinks about the main characters body. Sure it’s a cute crush at first but the imaginary sex scene threw me off (I kind of hope I’m not the only one who didn’t like it) cause I honestly thought he was supposed to be irrelevant. He’s not bad overall (unless future updates make him become more forceful or a jealous jerk) but he’s not that great. I can’t feel bad that his feelings aren’t reciprocated cause he only wants his friends body and looks. And yes, he does in fact only care about looks. He never once thinks about anything else when it comes to the main character and only cared about him after the hair cuts. Hopefully this doesn’t attract comments that go “oh but the main lead did this-“ or “he’s actually great”. He’s the bare minimum at best. Just because he’s respectful for now in the story doesn’t mean his feelings are genuine or he deserves the main characters feelings. I’m not saying he’s bad, he’s far from it, but he’s not coming from a place of genuine love or romance. I just wanna know if someone else agrees
Edit: I also want to mention that I’m rooting for the Main Lead. Sure he’s kind of a bit of a prick but that’s how it goes in these stories. He’s meant to be the guy who doesn’t want a relationship but after development and ovb a jealousy arc they get together. (It’s so common I expected it right off the bat) This post is a little bias because I like one way more than the other but besides that I didn’t lie. The friend doesn’t really have feelings for the MC outside of blatant lust. I just really hate love triangles (or technically love corners). Also, The ML isn’t as bad as you guys think (let’s hope this doesn’t age badly). He doesn’t mistreat the MC and accepted him right off the bat, and enjoys their time together and actively waits for him to reach out. Some of these comments almost made me think the ML was burning cigarettes or something on the MC with how much hate he’s getting. Sure they have some conflict with confessions but the feelings are there. It’ll probably be revealed more when they mention his backstory.
