The purpose of her character is to provide Lily with what her mother failed to offer in their previous life. It's no longer about her mom, it's about Lily. If you dislike her mother and cannot recognize her redeeming qualities, then you should be cautious with your heart. Negativity can consume your future.

To add to what you said, I agree that the empress and us do not forget that she was the worst type of shit before. She's living with her sins, every passing second, minute, hour, and day you name it. She's trying her best now and sometimes that matters especially because Lyrica can now feel it and not imagining it. Sometimes, redemption arcs are valid

What she did is unforgivable, she only got free pass and free redemption arc all because she went back in time.
She only felt guilty all because she suffered alongside her daughter, if her daughter SUFFERED ALONE, would she even give a fack?? If in the first timeline, she got together with a random rich freak and did not want her daughter, would she dare abandon her?? Hell yes she will considering the fact that her daughter suffered an abused from her, also not forgetting the fact that she LITERALLY TOOK HER OWN DAUGHTER'S SAVINGS
ALL SHE GOT WAS A FREE PASS, DON'T THROW IT TO MY FACE THAT "SHE FELT GUILTY"
YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY EXCUSING HER DEEDS
THAT'S LIKE HEARING MY DAD SAYING "I FELT GUILTY THAT I CHEATED ON YOUR MOTHER" WELL WHAT ABOUT WHAT MY MOTHER FELT???

It's not a free pass. This is like saying, everyone who is trying to redeem some part of themselves so that they can repay the person that they NOW know has sacrificed for them is invalid. Remember: second chances are a thing. Having a second chance to now save her daughter doesn't invalidate that Lyrica suffered because of the empress. No. It just means that the empress NOW knows better and will NOW cherish her the best. It doesn't erase anything that she did. This means that she has to live knowing she doesn't deserve Lyrica. And the manhwa portrays that. She's anxious. She's so scared losing Lyrica again. That's her karma. Nobody is saying that she's the best mother because she isn't. This is us saying she is using her second chance.
If you argue that the empress doesn't deserve it: yeah for sure. But look at it this way: Lyrica deserves to have all the love she has given out to the world. That includes having the mother she so dearly loves, cherish her the way she was meant to be cherished. Her mother may be flawed and maybe Lyrica deserves better but this is the only mother she knows and loves so don't take that kind of love away from her.
I can't sense mom and daughter bonding.....
SHE'S LEGIT ONE OF THE WORST PARENT CUZ LITERALLY I CAN'T SENSE THE MOTHER DAUGHTER BONDING
JUST BY READING THIS AND THE NOVEL VERSION, YOU CAN FEEL THAT
