Luce left with nothing cuz of ail sister of luce got married into good family he had no other option than to sacrifice himself for his remaining family, even if he is apart from ail he still remembers ail even though all the miseries he had to go through cuz of ail and his family, for being a prostitute's son he has to go on his whole life being remarked as ail's lover till his last breath. Bro had no option he also loved ail so much that he can't bear ail to be with someone else. If we read we get that luce is equally obsessed with ail but only in hidden side unlike ail.
I finished the novel a while ago. And sure enough Ruby was in love and obsessed with Ail too, to the point thoughts about killing him surfed when they started talking about marriage with Salina. This doesn't change the fact Ail was trash for most of the time during the novel and in the end, he admitted to be a bad person. Ruby is conscious about this too and although they are together, he still gets scared of him
Ail never changed luce accepted him as it at the end only thing that changed is ail would never get married and next heir would be either his step brother or his own sister's son.

I started to read the novel and lemme tell you, Ail till now is a fucking piece of shit.
I really love Ruth character, but I pity him for what hes going thru. The redemption arc for Ail better do its magic, otherwise I'll pray for his downfall
