It's the sense of community, the village has a different moral than teach (who just arrived).
For the village people it was the "right" choice. I like how the autor is making us to question their acts and we (as the readers) are on theach's shoes.
Nah! I would have called those villagers out. I would have stopped Guwon from killing the man. I would have yelled if you kill that man you will never have sex with me ever again.
