I understand the logic of the law but the punishment I think should be that he’s forced to go out and find double the medicine he stole. If successful, he’s repaid his debt and had to experience the turmoil of the outside world which would certainly steel him from doing it again. But he’d also be stronger for it and a more useful member of the town should fighters be needed.

If he fails…..he’d die outside and that be that. But he’d at least have a chance.

Killing him is actually quite wasteful out top of it being absolutely fucked where child is concerned. But extreme apocalyptic circumstances lead to extreme choices but there is a better way.

    I thought this was a zombie apocalypse though? Sending him out who isn't a fighter is basically asking for him to die, or potentially come back and infect the town...???
    Love the reply mentioning The Lottery. It's been so long but I vaguely remember that one.
