tbh, it's kinda hard to pull an actual green flag ML that is also interesting and not a flat/boring/puppy/goody-two-shoes, same with the red/black flag ones- it's a task to find an interesting one who doesn't just pull violence outta their ass just coz they're "down bad for the MC" lol. Most of the interesting leads out there are actually yellow in the least, it's so baffling when someone puts them to the extreme as either green or red when the plot contradicts it. Gray characters like this are the most interesting and engaging to read anyway (at least for me).
You made an excellent point and took the words right out of my mouth. I'm deffinetly eager to see what the author does with this whole plot and Guwon as the 'leader of the village.' If we look past the romance aspect, I can already tell that this won't be like a lot of other really popular BL plots that have been in circulation the last few years.
The only thing that's the problem with these kinds of plots is people watering down plot rich stories to the relationships between characters. So at the end of the day you shouldn't really expect much from the fandom of very popularised BLs.
(Time will tell tho whether the story will unfold to expectations)
I'm really wishing for a plot-heavy BL for this one, but if the author can pull the romance as the forefront while blending it well with the plot, then I guess that's still a consolation. It's also quite sad that the expectation for BLs is that it's going to be quite shallow because that's what sells, when authors can clearly whip up interesting plots like this one if they really want to (hopefully consistently too)
Personally, I think y'all were too quick to place a green flag title on him. Not saying that this seals the deal on him not being a green flag, just calling it out that just cause a character 'shows goodness' in some forms DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE A GREEN FORREST. Like you lot were calling him that before chapter 10 when we barely have any of the story unfolded, come on!
A lot of you really throw the term around very loosely and glaze over anything that could have them not be a green flag.
