I don't even think he's toxic for doing this. A little detached from humanity yes but given their circumstances and the survival rates order is a must xd and medical supplies are hard to get in a world that has gone to shit and there is no way to replenish them. Once they are gone it's gone no way to replenish modern day medicine. You pick and choose battles in an apocalyptic world.
