You guys really need to read the novel version of this story. The manhwa does the ML so dirty, it makes him look like a terrible person (i mean he kinda is but he not this bad ) when, in the novel, he was genuinely concerned and conflicted. For example, in the manhwa it looks like he hits the MC hard, but in the novel, he always tried to hold back. He was careful and didn’t want to hurt him, no matter how intense things got.
It also feels like they’re rushing the story right now. So many important moments between the ML and MC are being skipped, which is such a shame because those scenes show how much the ML really loved him. He didn’t care that the MC was losing his mind as long as the MC remembered him, that’s all that mattered. The novel also goes into much more detail about the MC’s drug symptoms and mental state, which the manhwa glosses over.
I still love the artist and support their work, but it’s obvious this season was rushed, and it’s disappointing. Please read the novel if you haven’t already it’s so much more detailed, emotional, and powerful.
This is the recent chapter but in the novel:
At first, he thought he could control it, but it wasn’t easy. He grew increasingly scared, afraid he might forget Chungrim too.
He reached under the bed, not for a notebook but for a label. He took it out and carefully wrote three familiar characters on it.
"Chungrim.”
Chungrim.
“Don’t forget.”
This person is Chungrim. He must never forget this person.
And when the ML realized the seriousness of it:
A large hand gripped the back of Sung-kyung’s neck. Though it trembled as if ready to choke the life out of him, Chungrim couldn’t bring himself to apply the pressure.
Since that day, Chungrim hadn’t been able to sleep properly. Whenever he closed his eyes, the image of the label with his name on it floated behind his eyelids. It felt like he had caught Kim Sung-kyung’s hallucinations just by being around him.
He knew what it meant. Despite all the efforts to stay in memory, he might be fading from Sung-kyung’s mind.
Another scenes in the manhwa that I don't think got justice is:
As Sung-kyung’s voice trailed off, he wiggled his neatly placed toes. Chungrim, staring at the white feet, impulsively reached out and pulled Sung-kyung’s head closer. The distance closed instantly, their lips almost touching.
The sound of their breathing felt overly vivid. Staring at Sung-kyung’s chapped lips, Chungrim swallowed dryly and pulled back.
“Alright. Let’s see how it goes. For now, go back to bed quickly.”
“Okay.”
Please, if you love the story or want the full emotional depth, read the novel. It’s worth it.
Just dm all of yall and if you wanna read to the current chapter it is on chapter 26. I would recommend reading it all in the second season which is 23 or 22. Yuu08
