Yeah I agree, i def dont suddenly hate guwon because he was inforcing the vote about a rule break that EVERYONE had previously agreed about! but I dont think the execution method was dumb or weak writing, i think it showed the brutality and darkness of the situation and changed our focus back to essentially how the story isnt all romance(?) and smut. Def do feel bad for the kid tho... maybe MC can take care of him now... anyways, i think the whole thing was to show that their little town is strict and lowkey unhinged

Idk maybe "I wish I didn't have to do this", or "this isn't the outcome i wanted". Even a little some shock that the people voted like that, but no he wanted to kill that guy, he said it was the RIGHT choice not a bad choice. His only regret in that situation was that he wasn't scary enough to make that guy not even see stealing as an option

Exactly, he wished he could have scared the guy out of making the bad decision so this outcome could have been avoided. And it WAS the right choice. If the punishment in that community for stealing is execution, and the guy stole, then yes that's the right decision. You can't go making exceptions for everybody who happens to have a sob story to excuse their actions.
Everyone hating on Guwon suddenly?? Bro it was a VOTE, Guwon didnt choose it, the majority did. He just did his job. Yeah the choice of a wooden bat for execution method is kinda dumb but that's probably just weak writing.
