Perfect take.I feel like i am back at square one in the "Shota Oni" manga comment section, XD, trying to drill sense into these degenerates' thick skulls. Their only lame-ass excuse is "it's fiction, not real." I’m starting to think their brains are either malfunctioning or stuck in preschool, bc there’s no point defending this sick shit.crazy world we live in

I understand some people see fiction as a way to "break-free" from reality but why would you WANT a world where any of that is justified and completely okay? Also let's not forget these freaks congregate around one another by boosting their works and interacting with them - being surrounded by people with your like-mindedness continues to perpetuate this kind of sick behaviour to the "norm" where everybody else are "puritans who cannot adhere to fandom etiquette". They've created a "them vs us" world as reality and "loli/shota heaven" as their oh so great fictionional world. Nobody really cares that fandoms have always been like this - but even back in the days pro-ships have been rightfully demonised and seemed immoral but people mainly minded their business but now their choosing not to because it's become such a huge problem and numbers for proshippers have gone up since COVID. That's like saying "well slavery has always existed, so it's really not that bad" (extreme example). Just because something was normalised in the past doesn't mean it should still be now. In some countries even fictional CP is a crime and I wish it was everywhere. Sorry I'm a big time yapper and just have so many thoughts and rebuttals about this topic. I literally love you and all you do when hating on these weirdos and seen you in the shota onii replies too
While fiction ≠ reality it literally IMPACTS reality. Books/movies/art have and always have a message told through them. The way JAWS gave people a mass hysteria about sharks, and shooter games have massively desensitised players to violence and gore. The entirety of fiction is BASED upon reality and always has whether yall like it or not. If you see fiction as a way of coping, that's completely normal - but if you see it as a way to excuse predatory or incestuous behaviour, the call might as well be coming from inside the house. Topics like rape/pedophilia/incest/DV should be handled in a respectful way bcs guess what, they exist IRL. These aren't things that solely exist fictionally and many people have gone through these things, portraying them in a positive/normal way is extremely damaging especially those who use these materials to cope from the abuse they have suffered from it. Also people have freedom of speech and freewill, they can criticise a work that DESERVES to be talked shit about. Cry about it
