From what I understand, she calls it 'the original story' because Chirpy gave her memories to her in text form, as a 'book'. She also didn't know what to call it, since, I guess it was a bit confusing at that time?
Hence why she calls it 'original story'. It also seems to reference on how Melissa seems to be the protagonist in 'the original story' (Chirpy's memories) since it was Chirpy's perspective :')
yeah and she also mentioned that the book is in third person point of view since it is chirpy's memories which makes sense
