
Because he doesn't remember anything from his previous life, maybe (this is obviously speculating). He did say his life felt empty before he met her, because nothing was a challenge nor held any meaning. Add now how this chapter implies he as "the light of the empire" spent life always sacrificing himself to indulge others, which may be a hint why he became evil in the other world, if everyone demanded too much from him... (and, if it really turns out to be him). The FL offers him a challenge and keeps correcting wrongs in his stead, while also protecting him and never demanding too much from him... so maybe that's why, "the 'savior' (Seydin) didn't end up becoming exhausted enough to turn into a demon this time, because now he's found his own savior (Renee).
I really really think that Seydin is the lord she defeated last time who wished her to be tied down on the next world after killing him...that's why the tower in the current world is empty.
