Might be a wild guess here but they said the spirit of light has too much life and grows everything including tumors... So won't also be able to grow lots of blood cells and the skin back really fast basicaly healing him if ordered to? I'm don't know how they are going to save Ethan but that's a way I thought. Still, i'm disapointed none of them tried to blind Nereus with the light
