When my friend went abroad, we kept in touch for a while, and then my friends told me she liked a girl (I was surprised since I remember she had a boyfriend ). I was happy and excited for her, so I asked them, but they told me, "I know her already." It went on for two days after that. I just asked her myself. That's when she told me the girl she liked was me. I rejected her.
She distanced herself from me, and so did my other friends.
I was ok, since I still had my best friends. I think she was hurt a lot, I also learned the reason she ended her relationship with her boyfriend was because of me. My advice if you treasure your friend group, then maybe it's best to talk it out with the person, but draw a clear boundary so he won't misunderstand. But if you feel like your friends are drifting away, it's best to just move on from those types of friends.

What I learned from that is: if you really value your friendship or the group, it’s worth talking things out — not to fix everything instantly, but just to clear the air and avoid misunderstandings. At the same time, it’s okay to set boundaries if you need to.
But if the people around you start acting distant and you feel like you’re not being valued anymore, it’s also okay to walk away. Real friends won’t make you feel like you’re too much just for having emotions.
