Do you know the definition of promiscuous or are we just throwing words around?

Promiscuity isn't same as sex addiction.

Addiction means compulsion. An inability to control your actions.

Promiscuity is just someone who likes to sleep around. By choice.

I think YOU don't understand what addictions are all about

Yet you were redundant in your definition? To be promiscuous is to be unattached. Most people who have sex addictions are promiscuous. Are you saying if I sleep with someone who has a sex addiction then I raped them because it was an impulsive decision? That doesn't add up. (FYI, Most people who are promiscuous are likely suffer from hypersexuality- which is a complusive disorder that makes them sleep around- or BPD. It's a common symptom.)

I know a lot about tid addiction. You may not necessarily be promiscuous to be a sex and love addict. You can masturbate or watch porn. It's called "acting in". It's not about hypersexuality. That's a different issue. And sounds like a medical diagnosis. "Acting out" is when you engage with other people sexually. When it's an addiction you literally feel like you will die without engaging in some kind of behavior that falls under the category of sex and love addiction. The name is misleading bcz not all sex addicts are promiscuous. The simply rely on the addition as an unhealthy mechanism to cope with their feelings. Go read the list from the 12 Steps of Sex & Love addiction. And their 12 steps text books and other text books in this subject. It is a coping mechanism in response to an emotional need. Not the physical ailment you are talking about. That's a whole different issue. So what I'm trying to say is that as a sex & love addict you CAN be promiscuous, not that you are one. But if you are promiscuous, by choice, then you don't have a sex & love addiction. Addictions takes all forms. It doesn't necessarily have involve someone else.

Every addiction will involve someone else. You don't get addicted to heroin without having another person introduce you to it, or give you the product. You can't be a sex addiction without having sex. Some people don't use addiction to cope with their feelings. Some do it to reveal stress, some do it because it feels nice, some do it because it's fun and gives them that thrill. Unfortunately, I don't have a Google degree and therefore cannot read books about other psychologist findings just because it sounds right or looks right. Socrates was accredited during his time until he was proven wrong. Freud was always seen as wrong until the recent sightings of "Boy Moms." I doubt someone who starts as a promiscuous will stay promiscuous by choice. Most people become promiscuous simply because of those same things I listed before with the addiction, as well as the emotional need you've referenced. No one sleeps with multiple people just because they want to, it's likely because of underlying trauma or " a coping mechanism in response to an emotional need."

And the ML in this story is definitely a sex addict. This man literally had to slap himself so hard he bleed to hold back from having sex. I doubt the average person has done that- especially to someone who is a sex partner.

Wait, how do you know that ppl who sleeps with multiple ppl don't want to?!? You just literally said some do it bcz they enjoy the sex. .....

    Anyways

I think you missed the point of why he had slapped himself, and thus, why you had labelled it as his being a sex addict. You don't NEED someone to introduce you to sex. You don't NEED some one to introduce you to masturbation. You really don't understand Anything about sex n llove addiction even though I had given you resources. You don't NEED a psych degree to understand what it is once you learn you have that problem. In fact the majority of addicts Don't have degrees. Your refusal to learn about what addictions entails, even though I had given you resources, shows a lack of understanding and willingness to understand what addictions is all about.. Not ALL sex addicts are promiscuous. And ppl who are promiscuous, as in, they enjoy sex but don't use it as need to fulfill their emotional needs, are NOT sex addicts. You're really missing the point here. Without getting too personal I will say I have personal issues with this so I know what it's like. Anyways, he had slapped himself in order to show his sincerity and start the relationship NOT based on sex, but he's holding himself back because although he's Really hooked on sex with NanJo he wants to really just date him without the sex. He's not an addict. He's just really promiscuous. I'm sorry but you REALLY don't know what sex addiction is REALLY like. And just bcz someone likes sex doesn't mean they are addicts. Nobody needs to introduce you to Sex. It's a natural response as you grow. Same with masturbation. Porn, is a bit different, but still you can stumble upon it without a literal person introducing you to it.

I didn't want to butt in but I think you're not in the right mind to discuss this with strangers online given you've revealed that you have personal issues regarding a fictional character being called a sex addict.

But, I just want to point out you're doubling down on making MC look bad which I'm sure wasn't your intention because from your replies, it seems you've been projecting onto him.

If you have to self harm by punching yourself to "show sincerity" to the other person, that's manipulative, not earnest!

That's even worse than not being able to stop yourself from having sex. I personally don't believe that's MC's intent but if that's your take... oof. You normalize quite some dangerous behaviors I lowkey feel sorry for the people in your life.

You said you have issues, we can tell. So maybe take a rest from this site until you're ready.
