No worries i didnt take it like that either. I dont find him unredeemable either but i worry there will be no grovelling. Fuck i find myself in a sunk cost fallacy balls deep into Jinx bcs of this thinking. LMAO i just find this vein of MLs punchable also bcs we haven’t had a good redemption arc of asshole tops in ages, for me personally.

Yeah I get that. Jinx was atrocious. This one also doesn’t look too promising either cause the mc’s falling first. I was hoping the ml would at least catch feelings since he’s open with his sexuality, but I guess not. It’s one saving grace is that the ml hasn’t done anything as horrible as the ml from Jinx, but that’s a low bar. Hopefully the author gives him a nice redemption and groveling arc at least cause the story has potential.
If there isn’t, I’ll just re-read Waterside Night to satisfy myself lol. The top’s horrible, but he’s well written and he gets a long enough groveling arc to the point where I’m satisfied.

also mc DOES sound insane and paranoid when he talks about being monitored and his brother wanting to kill him. combine the big claims he’s making with his poor reputation and mc not even giving the whole story, of course the ml would just assume that he’s mentally unwell or on drugs. obviously ml should listen more, but it’s (in-world since the reader knows the truth) a reasonable explanation
Maybe it’s cause most bls have even worse MLs, but I genuinely don’t understand the sheer hatred people seem to have towards this ml. Not only are they in a contractual relationship, but did you guys forget the MC approached the ML about it first? And he’s the one who insisted he’s not attracted to men and that he’s only straight? Yes, the ML could be more empathetic, but the MC also hasn’t explained all of his trauma to the ML. He only knows the surface of the MC’s situation. I’m sure a better person could still understand the MC with that information, but clearly the ML isn’t that type of guy.
I don’t know, he’s obviously not your saint, flawless, green flag ML, but he personally doesn’t feel bad enough to be put on the same level as typical red flag MLs when there’s the nuance of their relationship being purely contractual.
