Nah its jus that yaoi characters have become very feminine
I think the point where the bottom male leads of bls are so feminine as a commonality between a lot of stories is a bit of a problem. Its like they're pushing heteronormative stereotypes into queer couples (where there is a traditionally "masculine" partner and "feminine" partner)
Readers on the other hand, mostly women, are internalized mysoginists where they LIKE the heteronormative dynamic but DISLIKE when there's an actual woman. This leads them to a weird rabbit hole where they become fetishizers of queer men and maybe even patronize REAL people (I see pretty commonly in the shipping of thai bl actors)
I totally agree, I would also consider the fact that majority of the authors of yaoi are also women -women in South Korea- who at best subconsciously promote the heteronormative/misogynistic standards and at worst are homophobic themselves but still really like BL. I think there’s an allure and mystique around “observing people in the closet” (or really just projecting stereotypes onto them that they’re gay) but there’s really minimal support for real life LGBTQ+ community. The mystique is just gone when you’re not observing. Super weird, super cucky. Also the way I put more effort into this response then I did for any of my university discussions
