There’s no love at first sight, the magic dude was just really immersed in the girl’s intricate magic patterns she weaved into her dress. Unfortunately due to strange social rules, they ended up engaged. I do hope they explore more into the complex layers of social etiquette and rules, especially since they made a point to show how all the other debutantes and ladies were match perfect, same hair, same beauty mark, etc. If that was just a way to uplift the heroine..that just makes me feel bad for the other ladies, it’s not their fault there’s some beauty standard they expect to follow.
But back to the main characters, they’re really cute! They both enjoy magic and are just really invested in magic. I also really hope they keep a wholesome platonic relationship with none of the pitfalls or misunderstandings romance genres generally send, and just use marriage as a cover up to talk up about their mutual obsession; magic.
