So Hikikomori refers to both people who are Hikikomori and the social phenomenon. People who are called Hikikomori do not leave their house and are classified as Hikikomori if the the time of social withdrawal is more than six months. There’s various levels of Hikikomori. Typically they are unemployed and living with their parents confined within their rooms (barely interacting with their parents as well) they don’t have a social circle and tend to be more active online! But there are cases where they are not even active online! Hope that helps!
