First off you took my thoughts and made them make sense by commenting what you did ♡ also Im only suggesting this cuz you said you might drop reading the rest. You should read the novel instead, the manhwa had to get cut short due to publishing issues so the ending isn't very satisfying, however the novel is pretty good, novels by the same name I read it MTL cuz I couldn't find a English translation.
please read this first so you won’t misunderstand or dislike the story. just my one piece of advice: don’t expect anything going in. that way, your perception of the story won’t be tainted by unmet expectations. just treat this manhwa as a simple college love story—no dramatic gap years, no overly complex setups.
now, about the ML, from his perspective—his actions, thought process, and behavior—i genuinely believe he doesn’t know what “love” really is. he probably never learned it, especially not from home. his parents were emotionally unavailable, which likely shaped his warped understanding of relationships. that’s also why he didn’t believe in marriage or labeling relationships. when he told the MC that it’s okay to just “be together” without putting a name on it, it wasn’t him being vague—it was because he didn’t understand what love meant. he hadn’t felt it before which is sad.
but then the MC came along. their relationship started as a contract. but slowly, ML began showing signs—subtle actions, little gestures—that hinted he was becoming possessive and emotionally attached. ML was falling in love, in the only way he knew how: intensely, obsessively, and without understanding what he was feeling. he didn’t recognize it as love. he didn’t know how to process it. ML never acknowledged it—until it was almost too late.
the turning point came in chapter 84, when the MC told ML to end everything. no more sleeping together, no more pretending to get along. from now on, they would only meet at the hospital—nothing more. the MC even told him to find another omega if he couldn’t accept that arrangement. that moment devastated the ML, both emotionally and physically. it will be shown in the chapter how ruined he looked. because, by then, he had already fallen deeply in love with the MC. he was really hurt by what the MC said.
in a later chapter, he confronted MC and asked him why he’s cold towards ML. he asked if the MC truly meant what he said—that ML should just go find another omega. then, in the most heartbreaking way, he confessed that he doesn’t want any omega but the MC only.
and y’all, ML was completely broken in that moment. those words cut him. as far as i remember, in the same chapter, he waited at the MC’s apartment and found him with his best—drunk. ML got jealous again but helped carry the friend to the room. then, ML became visibly flustered, blushing, and deeply worried in that one panel. he even insisted the MC come stay at his place instead. he didn’t want the MC sleeping next to the drunk bestfriend of the MC. he said it in the most submissive way, man. at that point, we can already see that ML was completely down bad for the MC.
i might finish the whole story by tomorrow or might drop, seeing how i’ve already confirmed that ML was just dumb in love. angst is short as hell but it’s cool. i was desperate enough to read and translate the raws just so i can see the ML regret. poor him though, he genuinely loved MC too, he just really didn’t recognize his own feelings.
