Where to start?
A while back I commented that Guwon could end up being a red flag not because he’s a bad guy, per se, but because he’s so child-like. Kids can be unbelievably cruel because they lack self control and Guwon is practically a kid in a grown person’s body.
Another thing, I’ve always gotten Frankenstein vibes from this story. I think Guwon is a sentient science experiment.
And why did he kill some kids but not others?
Maybe these kids are gifted, or he saw something in them that could potentially make them “useful”. We don’t really know what his criteria for “usefulness “ is. Maybe these kids weren’t annoying and getting in the way so he deemed them “useful”, as in “they make things lighthearted but keep in their lane”.

So many questions, too many possibilities.

This! Also maybe kids were completely unnecessary back when Stillwater was being established... But now that everything is pretty much set up, raising a few and teaching them how to be useful to the town seems like a good strategy for the future cuz (I assume) there's no other place for them to learn the skills and the inhabitants will eventually get older and weaker... that being said I wonder what happens to the elderly
