It all started with some lowkey gay anime.
I used to really dislike this type of anime or manhwa—especially when they featured a great female lead, but somehow the story still focused on the guy falling for another guy. I would think, What the hell? Why is this so gay? (I'm seriously not homophobic, by the way.) I just wasn’t into seeing two guys together.
Well… everything changed when I started Heaven Official's Blessing a few years ago. That was the turning point—it gave me exactly what I’d unknowingly been searching for: a truly beautiful love story. Unlike so many others, this one actually made you feel something. It wasn't just about physical stuff or toxic relationships like those you often find in certain manhwas.
So many of them include disturbing content—like non-consensual scenes and manipulative characters. Painter of the Night was especially hard to read. I honestly still don’t understand why so many people love it, considering the poor boy was basically raped repeatedly.
Anyway, Heaven Official’s Blessing made me curious—do other characters like Hua Cheng exist? The kind of person you’d willingly die for? And to answer your question: no, it doesn’t do anything to us. Besides making us feel sad, heartbroken… or maybe just enjoying watching two hot guys make out.
This is an honest question I swear and I couldn’t think of a better place to ask it, so if you’re a girl here please answer. Why do you guys like reading Yaoi, everytime I try to even just look at an image I don’t see anything appealing, especially the really toxic ones (which honestly has been every single one I’ve given a chance). So now I really have to ask, why do you girls like reading it, what does it do for you?!! Swear I genuinely want to know (I’m also a girl too)
