I was wondering the same thing. Like, if she was 18-19 years old, I would even understand some of her naive and delusional attitudes. But gurl is freaking 26 . Not saying she's supposed to be a super mature woman, but she definitely has such a behavior that doesn't match her age at all. It's infuriating
i’m not super surprised about taeha this chapter to be honest, but i will always question the way the female characters are written, especially ari. like, ari is supposed to be 25 or 26, yeah? why is she portrayed as so naive and borderline foolish? people clown on her constantly and say "she's 25, not 18, she knows better," and like… i get why people may think she's younger. nothing about the way she’s written reflects someone in her mid-twenties. if you showed random panels of her to someone with zero context, i’m almost certain most would guess she’s like 18-21 max. she’s written as oblivious, overly childish, and honestly just… dumb sometimes. and that’s on the author, not the character. plus, the way people talk about her “deserving” the emotional neglect she’s getting now because she chose to stay with mincheol even after finding out about haesoo rubs me the wrong way. like hello? this girl has been manipulated and strung along since the beginning. mincheol gave her a fake, charming persona and planted this delusional idea that haesoo was just some obsessive ex. she’s clinging to that version of him because he literally created it to keep her there. why is the focus on blaming her and not on how grossly manipulative he is? and speaking of haesoo, she was with mincheol for twelve years, no? and he smoked the whole time, but you’re telling me she had no clue in the world about how cigarettes work? like she’s never seen it up close, never figured anything out? and then taeha has to teach her how to smoke? be serious. it’s not even about her smoking, it’s about the fact that the writing makes her feel completely inexperienced with everything unless a man walks her through it.
it’s just super frustrating how the women in this story constantly feel like they’re being written to be helpless or naive so the male leads can swoop in and look good. it’s lazy writing methink. they’re grown women being written like clueless high schoolers, and then being judged for not “knowing better.” i tell myself constantly i dislike this manhwa and won't keep up with it every now and then, but i won't lie, i do want to see where this all goes in the end. it's like i'm torturing myself atp
