Definitely a mistranslation.
It's quite common in some translations.

Most mtl is like this, if its a he, it will become she, and when its a she, it will become he... Done few mtl to read novel... Most male character become she and mess with my reading when halfway through i caught on the character is a male... I though i was reading a yuri

Sometimes translation are quite stubborn on this fact making me think this is cannon or spoiler or something.
